Lorne McManigle (Emory University):
Sophomore Lorne McManigle of Emory University won the women’s singles title at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships. McManigle, the fifth seed in the tournament, defeated her opponent from the College of St. Scholastica 6-2, 6-1 in the championship match to become the second individual champion in the program’s history. She went 5-0 during the tournament including a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3) upset win over the bracket’s fourth-seeded player from Tufts University in the quarterfinals. McManigle finished her season with a 25-10 record in singles play, the ninth-best win total in the program’s history
Kendra Higgins and Chrissy Hu (University of Chicago):
University of Chicago sophomore Chrissy Hu and freshman Kendra Higgins won the doubles title at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. They opened the final day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Carnegie Mellon University in the semifinals, before defeating Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 6-1, 6-3 in the championship match. Higgins also reached the quarterfinals of the singles championship and Hu earlier in the week helped lead the Maroons to a fourth-place finish at the team championship.
