Isaac Dukes (Case Western Reserve University):
Sophomore Isaac Dukes of Case Western Reserve University won the 149-pound weight class at the Midwest Regional hosted by Delaware Valley College. He defeated his foe from Washington and Jefferson College 7-1 and won over Trine College by disqualification to reach the finals. He defeated his sixth-ranked opponent from Delaware Valley College 10-3 for the title. Dukes, who is now 35-2 overall this season and ranked fifth in the weight class by D3Wrestle, will go to nationals for the second straight season after earning a wildcard selection last year at 157 pounds.
Matt Magill (NYU):
NYU junior Matt Magill earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors at the Metropolitan Conference Championships at The College of New Jersey on Sunday after winning all three of his bouts at 157 pounds. After outpointing his first opponent from Wilkes University 5-1, the fourth seed scored a 12-3 major decision over the top seed from TCNJ in the semifinals before defeating the third seed from King’s College 5-4. By winning his weight class at the championship, Magill qualified for the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship.
Other Outstanding Athletes
Troy Carlson (Chicago) qualified for the NCAA Championship meet at the Great Lakes Regional where he lost in the 197-pound weight class finals.
