Women’s Fencing
Sophie Ciaravino (New York University)
Rebecca Baird-Remba (New York University):
New York University junior Sophie Ciaravino and sophomore Rebecca Baird-Remba recorded perfect 6-0 records in foil on Thursday. Each competed for both the “A” and “B” teams as the Violets hosted Fairleigh Dickinson University. NYU lost the “A” match 15-12, but the duo led the foil team to an 8-1 win. The “B” team won the second match by a score of 17-10, with the pair leading the foilists to a 9-0 shutout victory.
Men’s Fencing
Sam Roukas (New York University):
Sam Roukas of New York University won all three of his sabre bouts on Thursday. His victories were instrumental in helping the Violets pick up a split against Stevens Institute of Technology. The senior did not compete in the first match, a 14-13 setback. In the second match, Roukas finished 3-0 to lead the sabre team to a 6-3 win. The Violets produced an 18-9 victory overall.
