UAA Athlete of the Week

Carl Yaffe (NYU):
Junior forward Carl Yaffe led 19th-ranked NYU to a 2-0 week by averaging 29 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. For the week, Yaffe shot 21 of 30 (70%) from the field and 6 of 11 (55%) from three-point range to help the Violets stay tied for first place in the UAA. In an 88-76 victory at Carnegie Mellon University on Friday, he scored a game-high 22 points on 8 of 10 shooting and added eight rebounds. Two days later Yaffe poured in a career-high 36 points and corralled seven rebounds to lead the Violets to a 98-85 win at Case Western Reserve University. He shot 13 of 20 from the floor and 5 of 9 from beyond the arc to net the most points by a Violet in a UAA game since 1990.



Other Outstanding Athletes

John DiBartolomeo (Rochester) scored 43 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out 12 assists, had two blocks, and two steals to help the Yellowjackets go 2-0 on the week… Tom Summers (Case) averaged 19.5 points and seven rebounds in a 1-1 week… Chris Klimek (Washington) averaged 15.5 points and five rebounds in a 1-1 week… Jake Davis (Emory) averaged 23.5 points, seven rebounds on 61.5 percent shooting from the floor… Vytas Kristus (Brandeis) averaged 16 points and six rebounds in a 1-1 week… Tyrone Hughes (Brandeis) hit his second UAA buzzer-beater of the season to defeat Carnegie Mellon University.
