UAA Athlete of the Week
Carl Yaffe (NYU):
Junior forward Carl Yaffe led 19th-ranked NYU to a 2-0 week by averaging 29 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. For the week, Yaffe shot 21 of 30 (70%) from the field and 6 of 11 (55%) from three-point range to help the Violets stay tied for first place in the UAA. In an 88-76 victory at Carnegie Mellon University on Friday, he scored a game-high 22 points on 8 of 10 shooting and added eight rebounds. Two days later Yaffe poured in a career-high 36 points and corralled seven rebounds to lead the Violets to a 98-85 win at Case Western Reserve University. He shot 13 of 20 from the floor and 5 of 9 from beyond the arc to net the most points by a Violet in a UAA game since 1990.

John DiBartolomeo (Rochester) scored 43 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out 12 assists, had two blocks, and two steals to help the Yellowjackets go 2-0 on the week… Tom Summers (Case) averaged 19.5 points and seven rebounds in a 1-1 week… Chris Klimek (Washington) averaged 15.5 points and five rebounds in a 1-1 week… Jake Davis (Emory) averaged 23.5 points, seven rebounds on 61.5 percent shooting from the floor… Vytas Kristus (Brandeis) averaged 16 points and six rebounds in a 1-1 week… Tyrone Hughes (Brandeis) hit his second UAA buzzer-beater of the season to defeat Carnegie Mellon University. |
