Athletes of the Week

Offense

Breanah Bourque 
Emory University 
Oakland, CA (Bishop O’Dowd)

Emory University senior middle hitter Breanah Bourque earned all-regional honors at the Newport News NCAA Regional, averaging 4.25 kills and 0.92 blocks per set in three matches. She hit .447, including .488 with 24 kills in a regional semifinal win over Juniata College. Bourque recorded a match-high 19 kills in a regional final loss to Christopher Newport University in five sets.

Defense

Kelly Pang 
Washington University 
Honolulu, HI (Iolani School)

Senior libero Kelly Pang of Washington University averaged 3.78 digs per set in three NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship matches. She finished with 13 digs in a win over Mt. St. Joseph College.

Other Outstanding Performances

Brandeis reached the finals of the ECAC Division III New England tournament to finish 21-14, its first 20-win season since 2006; Si-Si Hensley finished with a team-high 34 digs (3.4 dps) and second with 23 kills; Katie Huntington (Chicago) averaged 3.3 kills and 2.6 digs per set as the Maroons advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship; Alexandria Mao (NYU) was named the Most Outstanding Player in leading the Violets to the ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Championship. She averaged 3.8 kills and 2.8 digs per set, while hitting .232. She finished with a match-high 20 kills and added 13 digs in a four-set win over Elmira College in the tournament final. The Violets avenged a loss to the Soaring Eagles in last year’s ECAC final and reached 20 wins for the fifth consecutive season and 10th time in the past 11 seasons; Drew Hargrave (Washington) averaged 4.22 kills per set, hitting .284, as the Bears advanced to the regional finals of the NCAA tournament.
