UAA Athlete of the Week

MMMelissa Alwardt (Rochester): The freshman tallied a game-high 18 points and pulled down five rebounds (four on defense) in 26 minutes off the bench as the Yellowjackets dropped a 73-61 decision to host Messiah College in the third round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship.  Alwardt hit five of 10 field goals (three of seven from 3-point range) and made five of six free throws to finish as the Yellowjackets’ top scorer in three NCAA tournament games with an 18.3 points-per-game average.

MMMolly Hackney (Chicago): The sophomore forward scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a losing effort as the Maroons dropped a 70-56 decision to host Kean University in the third round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship.  Hackney hit six of 15 shots from the floor and made seven of 10 free throws. She also blocked four shots and collected a pair of steals.
