UAA Athlete of the Week

Kevin Sparks 
Washington University 
Geneva, IL (Geneva)

Junior Kevin Sparks posted the highest individual finish in Washington University men’s cross country history at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, placing fourth in a field of 280 runners. His time of 24:37 led the Bears to a fifth-place finish in the team standings, their second-best showing in the program history.

Other Outstanding Performances

Billy Whitmore (Chicago) placed 11th in the 280-runner field at the NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championship in a time of 24:47.6 to earn All-America honors for the second consecutive season; Dan Hamilton (Rochester) placed 60th at the NCAA Championship in 25:25.21 to lead the Yellowjackets to a 21st-place finish in the 32-team field.
