Caroline Mattos, Annette Kim, and Emilia Dwyer led Brandeis University to the team foil title at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Championships as well as the overall and six-weapon trophies. The foil squad recorded a 40-3 mark in team competition and placed second, eighth, and ninth in individual rounds.

Freshmen Charles Efthimion, Andrew Kelly, and Jerry Xu led NYU to a third-place finish in the saber at the U.S. Collegiate Championships at Ohio State University on Sunday. The Violets faced only NCAA Division I nationally ranked opponents, topping the fourth-ranked Buckeyes in the bronze medal match.
Other Outstanding Performances
Women’s Fencing
The NYU foil team placed fourth at the U.S. Collegiate Squad Championships at Ohio State University on Sunday. The Violets defeated the University of North Carolina 45-38.
Men’s Fencing
The Brandeis saber squad helped the Judges to the 2013 New England Intercollegiate Fencing Championship. In the team competition, the trio finished 33-1 to win the saber trophy and took first, second, and sixth place in the individual competition.
