UAA Athletes of the Week

Men:
Adam Mandel and Alex Powell (Brandeis University):
Senior Alex Powell and freshman Adam Mandel helped host Brandeis University to a 4-1 overall record at the 2012 Eric Sollee Invitational. Mandel posted a 10-1 record in saber action, going 3-0 against New York University and Johns Hopkins University. Powell amassed a 10-4 record in the epee, including a dramatic win against Johns Hopkins where he blanked his opponent 5-0 in the final match to earn the Judges a 14-13 decision. Powell also won all three of his bouts against Haverford College. Brandeis defeated UAA-rival NYU (17-10), Haverford College (18-9), and Hunter College (25-2) while suffering their only defeat to seventh-ranked University of Pennsylvania (6-21).

Women:
Audra Fox (NYU):
Freshman Audra Fox of NYU amassed an 18-3 record in the foil last weekend against top competitors. Fox finished 15-3 at the Eric Sollee Invitational on Saturday, blanking opponents from UAA-rival Brandeis University (3-0), Boston College (3-0), and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (3-0). She posted 2-1 records against Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, and Haverford College. Overall, the Violets finished 4-2 in team competition, including a 20-7 victory over the Judges. Fox capped off the weekend winning all three of her bouts in a 22-5 win over Tufts University Sunday.

Philip Jamesson (NYU) posted a 10-3 foil record at the Eric Sollee Invitational held at Brandeis University.
