UAA Athlete of the Week

Sophomore outfielder Max Golembo batted .500 (6-for-12) in a 2-1 week for Washington University that included back-to-back one-run victories over 11th-ranked Birmingham-Southern College. He hit 2-for-4 and scored a run in a 3-2 win over the Panthers on Wednesday and followed that with a 3-for-4 performance and two runs batted in as the Bears won 8-7 on Thursday. Golembo has reached base safely in all 27 games this season.
University of Rochester
Montclair, NJ (Montclair)
Sophomore pitcher Evan Janifer recorded a 2-0 week with two saves and did not allow an earned run in four appearances for the University of Rochester. He earned saves with one inning of work in the Yellowjackets’ 5-2 victory over Keuka College and 7-6 win over Bard College. Janifer threw two perfect innings in relief to earn the win in a 3-2 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology and again with 1.2 innings of work in a 3-1 win over Bard. Janifer limited opponents to a .063 batting average and lowered his earned run average to 0.73 this season.
Other Outstanding Performances
Dominic Schwartz (Brandeis) hit .467 (7-for-15) with two runs scored and two runs batted in as the Judges split four games… Jordan Swisher (CWRU) hit .429 (9-for-21) with two home runs, three runs scored, and four runs batted in during a 5-1 week for the Spartans. Jake Shields extended his scoreless streak to 13.1 innings before allowing a run versus Bethany College. He earned victories over The College of Wooster and Bethany, giving up two earned runs and fanning 11 batters in 11 innings… Brett Lake (Emory) hit .400 (4-for-10) with four runs batted in to increase his UAA-leading total to 52. The Eagles swept three games from Southwestern University to run their winning streak to a season-best five games. Connor Dillman tossed a four-hitter over eight innings in a 10-2 Eagle win over Southwestern to move to 6-1 this season and lower his earned run average to 2.41… Josh Ludwig (Rochester) batted .350 (7-for-20) in a 6-1 week for the Yellowjackets, scoring five runs and driving in seven. David Strandberg tossed a no-hitter in an 11-2 win over Bard College, allowing two runs on six walks in seven innings.
