Emory University captured its second UAA Volleyball title in three years edging defending champion Washington University 30-24, 24-30, 30-23, 28-30, 15-10 in the championship match. The match was a near repeat of the five-game round robin match won by Washington earlier in the season, but a timely offensive surge by the Eagles in the deciding game secured the victory and championship title. With the title, Emory also receives an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championship.
This was the first year of a new championship format for the Association in which an opening round of pool play was followed by crossover matches based on pool play finish to determine the final order of finish. Previously, the top two teams from each pool entered a single-elimination playoff. |
| In the third-place match, Carnegie Mellon University defeated Brandeis University 30-26, 26-30, 30-20, 30-18. In two other hard-fought crossover matches, NYU topped host University of Rochester 3-2 for fifth place, and Case Western Reserrve University edged the University of Chicago, 3-2, for seventh place. |

| FORMAT: Prior to the championship tournament, teams are seeded into two pools based on their match and game records in the regular season round robin. Each team plays once around in its pool to determine seedings for the crossover playoffs. Immediately following the completion of pool play, or the resolution of any three-way ties if necessary, each team plays a crossover match against the corresponding finisher from the other pool. The match between the top finishers in the two pools is the championship match of the tournament. |
