OFFENSE
MM• Scott Cady (Rochester): The sophomore forward scored two goals, one a game-winner, to propel the Yellowjackets into the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. Cady scored the game’s opening goal in the third minute of a 3-0 opening round victory over Keuka College, then followed with an insurance goal on a header six minutes into the second half in a 2-0 win over 22nd-ranked Hobart College in the second round.

MM• Michael Peacock (Rochester): The sophomore goalkeeper accounted for back-to-back shutouts during the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. After making only one save in a 3-0 win over Keuka College, Peacock made six saves, five coming in the second half, as the Yellowjackets defeated 22nd-ranked Hobart College, 2-0, to advance to the “Sweet 16” in Grantham, PA. The victory avenged a 1-0 loss to the Statesmen on Sept. 15, the Yellowjackets’ last defeat before going 12-0-1.
MM• John Smelcer (Washington): The sophomore goalkeeper yielded only one goal in the Bears’ first and second round weekend wins in the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. He allowed the lone goal in a 2-1 win over Carthage College in the opening round, then made three saves in posting his ninth shutout of the season in a 1-0 overtime triumph over Dominican University (IL) in round two.

MM• Ryan Grandin (Washington): The sophomore forward scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 overtime victory against Dominican University (IL) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship, sending the Bears to the "Sweet 16" for the first time since 1997. Grandin headed in a long cross from senior Marshall Plow in the 99th minute for his third goal of the season.

MM• Patrick Carver (Emory): The junior scored two goals in leading the Eagles to a 4-0 triumph over Carnegie Mellon University. Carver scored the opening goal of the match in the 13th minute, then struck again in the 51st minute. He finished the regular season as the top goal scorer in UAA play (six) and finished tied with teammate Patrick McFarland as the Association’s top points scorer with 16 points. Carver will lead the Eagles into the NCAA Division III Championship as the team’s scoring leader with 16 goals and 41 points.

MM• Michael Peacock (Rochester): The sophomore goalkeeper made seven saves in posting his fifth shutout of the year in a 3-0 win over eighth-ranked Case Western Reserve University, giving the Yellowjackets their eighth UAA championship and the right to host a four-team regional in the opening rounds of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. Peacock finished as the top goalkeeper in Association play with a 0.40 goals against average and an .893 save percentage.

MM• Michael Burke (NYU): The freshman midfielder came off the bench and tallied his first collegiate goal to propel the Violets to a 2-1 victory over Brandeis University in their regular-season finale. Burke won a scrum in the box and snapped a 1-1 tie with 1:21 remaining.

MM• Keith Meehan (Emory): The senior goalkeeper recorded his fifth shutout of the season during a 4-0 victory over Carnegie Mellon University. Meehan made two saves during the match, helping the Eagles to their school-record 16th win of the season. Meehan finishes the regular season with a school-record 0.69 goals against average, starting in all 18 games.
MM• Chris Wright (NYU): The junior goalkeeper made five saves to help the Violets to a 2-1 victory at Brandeis University in the regular-season finale.

MM• Harry Beddo (Washington): The freshman forward scored the game’s only goal in the fourth minute of the second overtime to lead the Bears to a win over fifth-ranked Case Western Reserve University, capping a 1-0-1 UAA weekend and a 2-0-1 week. Beddo opened the week with a pair of goals, including the winning goal in the 60th minute, in a 3-1 win at Maryville University (MO). Beddo leads Washington in scoring, with nine goals and 20 points.

MM• Andre Jakubowski (Emory): The junior defender was part of a defense that held opponents to two goals and scored a goal himself as the 17th-ranked Eagles won a pair of UAA weekend matches, setting themselves up for a shot at the Association title on the final weekend of play. Jakubowski and the Emory defense posted their eighth shutout of the season in a 4-0 triumph over Brandeis University, holding the Judges to four shots (two on goal). Two days later, the junior scored on a header in the 26th minute during a 4-2 win over New York University.

MM• Kevin Bigart (Case): The junior forward scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Spartans a 2-1 victory over the University of Chicago.
MM• Jeremy Mann (Rochester): The senior played a role in both games of a 1-0-1 week in the midwest for the Yellowjackets. He scored the tying goal on a header off a corner kick in forcing a 1-1 double overtime draw with Washington University. Two days later against the University of Chicago, his goal gave the Yellowjackets an early 1-0 lead in an eventual 3-1 victory.
MM• Patrick McFarland (Emory): The junior forward scored two goals and added three assists during a 2-0 UAA weekend. McFarland assisted on the game-winning goal, and scored a goal in a 4-0 win over Brandeis University. Two-days later, he tallied a pair of assists and added a late goal to secure a 4-2 win over New York University. McFarland has posted career season highs with 10 goals and 11 assists for 31 points.
MM• Matthew Ramirez (NYU): The senior midfielder contributed a pair of assists, both off perfectly placed corner kicks, as the Violets won at Carnegie Mellon University, 2-1, for the first time since 1988.

MM• Onyi Okoroafor (Washington): The senior back anchored a defense that allowed just two goals in a 2-0-1 week for the Bears. Okoroafor was especially crucial to Washington in a 1-1 UAA weekend, shutting down the attack of Case Western Reserve University in a 1-0 win, and holding the University of Rochester to a 1-1 double overtime draw. Both teams shared the number-five ranking in the recent NSCAA Division III poll.
MM• Michael Peacock (Rochester): The sophomore goalkeeper registered back-to-back solid games against Washington University and the University of Chicago. He played 110 minutes and made three saves in a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Washington, then made three saves and played 90 minutes in a 3-1 win over Chicago.
MM• Zeyad Schwen (Case): The junior back was a huge part of a stingy defense in three overtime games for the Spartans, playing to a scoreless double-overtime draw with Penn State University-Behrend and posting a 2-1 overtime win over the University of Chicago before dropping a 1-0 overtime decision to Washington University.

MM• Jeritt Thayer (NYU): The senior midfielder tallied four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Violets. In a 5-1 victory over Rowan University on Wednesday, Thayer produced two goals and an assist in the first ten minutes, including two scores in the first 4:44 of the contest. Four days later, he netted two more goals to give him a career-high 13 in a 4-0 road, non-conference victory over St. Joseph’s College (Long Island). NYU (11-3-1) is ranked #22 in the NSCAA/adidas rankings and #23 by d3kicks.com.

MM• Devin Freeman-Roche (NYU): The junior back allied an assist in a 2-0 week and spearheaded a defensive effort that helped the Violets outscore the opposition 9-1. Freeman-Roche produced his second assist of the season in a 5-1 victory over Rowan University on Wednesday. MM• Patrick McFarland (Emory): The junior forward tallied the "golden goal" for the Eagles in a 2-1 triumph over Greensboro College. McFarland scored the winner in the 96th minute of the match, giving the junior his second game-winning goal this season, both coming during a sudden-death overtime period. The forward has now scored a career-best 24 points on the season (eight goals, eight assists).
MM• Steven Welles (Rochester): The freshman midfielder Steven Welles scored two first half goals in leading the Yellowjackets to a 4-0 win over Houghton College.

MM• Adam Dhanens (NYU): The junior forward tallied a career-high five points in a 3-2 UAA victory over the University of Chicago. After tallying the game’s opening goal at the 14:46 mark of the first period, Dhanens broke a 1-1 deadlock with the winning goal at 74:21. He assisted on an insurance goal 83 seconds later.

MM• Michael Peacock (Rochester): The sophomore goalkeeper turned in back-to-back shutouts in leading the Yellowjackets to a 2-0 week and sole possession of first place in the UAA. He made five saves in a 2-0 win over Carnegie Mellon University and stopped a pair of shots on goal for his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 double-overtime win over tenth-ranked Emory University. Peacock has yet to give up a goal through his last three UAA starts.

MM• J.J. Dennstedt (Rochester): The sophomore forward assisted on both goals for the Yellowjackets in a 2-0 win over Carnegie Mellon University. Both scores came 73 seconds apart on counter attacks after heavy pressure from the Tartans.

MM• Jordan Edelman (Emory): The junior defender played all 196 minutes in the backfield for the Eagles during a 1-1-0 weekend on the road. Edelman and the Emory defense held Case Western Reserve University to two shots on goal in a 2-1 win over Case Western Reserve University, then went the distance in a 1-0 double overtime loss to the University of Rochester in a battle for first-place in the Association. Edelman has started all 14 games for the Emory defense this season, helping the Eagles to a 0.63 goals against average.
MM• Chad Skidmore (Case): The senior goalkeeper made eight saves, including three diving stops, in a 3-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon University. Skidmore, who leads the UAA with a 0.55 goals against average, also made three saves in a 2-0 loss to Emory University.
MM• John Smelcer (Washington): The sophomore goalkeeper combined for 13 saves in helping the Bears to a pair of UAA road wins. Smelcer made eight saves in a 2-1 win at New York University, then tallied his fifth shutout of the year in a 2-0 triumph over Brandeis University, making five saves.

MM• Matt Paglia (Case): The junior midfielder/forward registered his second multi-goal performance of the season in leading the Spartans to a 3-0 triumph over Brandeis University, tallying scores in the 65th and 72nd minute of the second half. He has scored six goals on the season, with five coming in his last four games.

MM• Keith Meehan (Emory): The senior goalkeeper recorded his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 triumph over Washington University in a battle of nationally ranked UAA teams. Meehan made five saves in the win, including a key stop on a free kick in the 75th minute with Emory holding a 1-0 lead. His 0.63 goals against average ranks second in the UAA this season.

MM• Joey Howie (Emory): The senior midfielder scored the opening goal in the Eagles’ key 3-0 victory over Washington University in a battle of nationally ranked teams. Howie's goal came in the tenth minute of play, giving Emory a lead they would hold for the rest of the match.
MM• Matt Sulkin (Rochester): The senior midfielder tallied a goal and an assist in the last six minutes (his only points in two games) as the University of Rochester rallied to defeat Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-2. With the Yellowjackets trailing, 2-1, Sulkin converted a penalty kick to tie the game at 84:06. In the closing seconds, he lofted a free kick into the box that was headed home by Phil Proud with two seconds to play.

MM• Patrick Carver (Emory): The junior forward scored two goals, including a winning goal in overtime, to lead the nationally ranked and undefeated (10-0-0) Eagles to a 3-2 double-overtime win over host University of Chicago in the Association opener for both teams. With Chicago holding a 2-1 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the second half, Carver beat the goalkeeper out of the box for an unassisted goal in the 78th minute to tie the game. In the second overtime period, Carver tallied the go-ahead score 1:46 into the extra session to end it. He currently leads the Association with 12 goals and 27 points.
MM• Matt Paglia (Case): The junior forward accounted for all goals scored in a 3-0 shutout victory over the College of Wooster, tallying scores in the 16th (unassisted), 33rd (penalty kick), and 51st minute.

In the UAA season opener against defending champion Case Western Reserve University three days later, he assisted on the game’s only goal at 17:06 and cleared two potential scores off the backline late in the match to help preserve the win. NYU (8-1-1, 1-0 UAA) has posted five consecutive shutouts in 507:43, which ranks second in school history.

MM• Patrick Carver (Emory): The junior recorded four goals and an assist in helping the undefeated Eagles (9-0) to three victories on the week. Carver scored a goal in an 8-0 win over Piedmont College, registered a season high five points (two goals, assist) in an 8-0 triumph over the University of the South, and tallied a goal in a 3-1 win over Oglethorpe University. Carver has scored in each of the eight games he has played in this season, and leads the team with 10 goals and 23 points.

MM• Chris Wright (NYU): The junior goalkeeper did not allow a goal in 162 minutes of action in helping the Violets to a 2-0 week, extending their unbeaten streak to six matches. Wright made five saves, including four stops in the final 15 minutes, during a 2-0 triumph over the United States Merchant Marine Academy, then made one save in 72 minutes played in a 4-0 win over Baruch College.

MM• Edgar Friloux (Chicago): The sophomore forward scored his first two goals of the season in the 58th and 79th minutes as the Maroons posted a 2-0 triumph over Aurora University.
MM• Ricky Griffin (Carnegie Mellon): The sophomore tallied goals in two victories on the week for the Tartans (5-0), who extended their winning streak to nine games dating back to the 2006 season. Griffin scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Penn State University-Altoona, and tacked on the final goal of the game in a 3-0 shutout win over Mount Union College.
MM• Sean Hantes (Rochester): The junior forward tallied game-winning goals for the Yellowjackets in victories over Nazareth College and Salisbury University. Hantes tallied the game's first goal four minutes in during a 2-0 win over Nazareth, then tallied the lone goal of the game in the 19th minute against Salisbury.
MM• John Hengel (Washington): The sophomore forward tallied a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan University.

Bazin made three saves, including a stop on a penalty kick, in a 2-1 win over Penn State University-Altoona, then made another three stops in registering the shutout in a 3-0 triumph over Mount Union College, moving him into fourth place on the school's all-time list for career shutouts.
MM• Erik Laney (Emory): The junior made contributions on both sides of the ball in helping the Eagles to three victories on the week to remain undefeated on the season. Laney was part of an Emory defense that allowed a combined five shots on goal (11 total shots) and one goal in wins over the University of the South (8-0), Piedmont College (8-0), and Oglethorpe University (3-1). He also scored his first career goal in the win over the University of the South.

Peacock played the first half of a 2-0 win over Nazareth College, making two saves, and picked up his first shutout of the season in a 1-0 triumph over Salisbury University, makig three saves.
MM• Zeyad Schwen (Case): The junior was part of a defense that limited the opposition to 12 total shots as the Spartans remained undefeated with victories over in-state rivals Oberlin College and Heidelberg College. The Case defense staved off a late charge by Oberlin in the final ten minutes to hold on to a 3-2 victory, and limited Heidelberg to three shots on goal in posting a 3-0 shutout win. Schwen tallied his first goal of the season in that game, scoring an insurance goal in the 89th minute.

MM• Adam Dhanens (NYU): The junior forward totaled two goals and an assist in helping the nationally ranked Violets to a 1-0-1 record on the week. Dhanens accounted for all of the scoring for NYU in a 2-2 draw with Richard Stockton College, then assisted on the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 victory at Eastern Connecticut State University. Dhanens ranks second on the team with nine points (three goals, three assists) for NYU (4-1-1), which is unbeaten in its last four matches.
MM• Patrick McFarland (Emory): The junior forward tallied two goals and two assists in helping the Eagles to a 2-0 record at the Centre College/Adidas Invitational. McFarland scored the winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win over previously unbeaten Wittenberg University, then followed with a goal and assisted on two others in a 4-0 win over Heidelberg College. Through six games this season, McFarland is tied for the team lead with three assists, and is second in goals scored (five) and points (13).

MM• Ricky Griffin (Carnegie Mellon): The sophomore scored the game's opening goal and assisted on the winning goal in the 81st minute in helping the Tartans to a 3-2 victory at visiting Juniata College. Griffin has now recorded a point in each of the Tartans first three games, while leading the team in scoring with three goals and nine points.
MM• Pierre Hoppenot (Washington): The junior midfielder recorded a goal and two assists in a 2-1 week for the Bears. Hoppenot assisted the winning goal in a 2-0 triumph over Principia College and added a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Southwestern University (TX).

MM• RJ French (Case): The junior forward scored three goals in helping the fifth-ranked Spartans remain unbeaten on the season (4-0) with back-to-back shutouts over John Carroll University and Juniata College. French scored the final goal in a 3-0 victory over John Carroll, and accounted for both goals in the win over Juniata. He has scored game-winning goals in two games and leads the UAA with five goals.

MM• Chad Skidmore (Case): The senior goaltender registered back-to-back shutouts in an undefeated week for the fifth-ranked Spartans. Skidmore made two saves in a 3-0 win over John Carroll University and went untested in a 2-0 triumph over Juniata College to remain undefeated on the season with a 4-0 record.

MM• Sean Hantes (Rochester): The junior forward scored two goals in an unbeaten week for the Yellowjackets. His goal with under eight minutes left in regulation helped Rochester to a 2-2 double overtime draw with 23rd ranked St. Lawrence University. Against Clarkson University the following day, he scored the game's lone goal in the fourth minute and the Yellowjacket defense made it stand up for a 1-0 win.
MM• Ben Premo (Brandeis): The junior forward had a goal and an assist in a 1-1-1 week for the Judges. He assisted the game's final goal in a 3-1 win over Babson College and scored in the 25th minute in a 1-1 draw with Clark University. Premo is now tied for eighth on the Judges' career goal-scoring list and 12th on the points list.
MM• Anthony Tumbiolo (NYU): The freshman midfielder recorded three assists to power an offense that produced eight goals in a 2-0 week for the Violets. Tumbiolo set up NYU’s first tally to spark a 3-1 victory over nationally ranked Kean University and assisted on a pair of goals in a 5-1 victory over City College of New York.
DEFENSE
MM• Matthew Bazin (Carnegie Mellon): The junior goalkeeper led the Tartans to a 2-0 record to open the 2007 season, making a save in a season-opening 3-0 win over Washington and Jefferson College, and recording his 20th career shutout with four saves in a 3-0 win over Westminster College (PA).
MM• Keith Meehan (Emory): The senior goalkeeper allowed one goal in leading the Eagles to a pair of weekend victories during the ESPIRIT Division III Tournament in Raleigh, NC. Meehan recorded his 12th career shutout in a 3-0 win over Lynchburg College, moving him into sole possession of fifth place in school history. He followed with two saves in a 2-1 victory over Guilford College.
MM• Chris Wright (NYU): The junior goalkeeper allowed two goals and posted a 1.05 goals against average in 171:38 of action as the Violets posted two key Metro Region victories. Wright made two saves in a 3-1 victory over 17th ranked Kean University, and followed with a pair of saves in playing 81:38 of a 5-1 triumph over the City College of New York.

OFFENSE
MM• Jeritt Thayer (NYU): The senior midfielder accounted for all of his team’s offense as the Violets went 1-1 at the Stevens Institute of Technology College Classic. The 2006 UAA Player of the Year and second-team All-American tallied both goals, including the game-winner at the 58:54 mark, in a 2-1 triumph over Elizabethtown College in its season opener. Thayer produced the Violets’ lone score in a 2-1 loss to host Stevens Tech.
DEFENSE
MM• Matt Hemphill (Washington): The senior anchored a defense that recorded two shutouts and held both opponents without a shot on goal over the weekend at the Rhodes College Classic in Memphis, TN. The Bears defeated host Rhodes College and Millsaps College by identical 3-0 scores as Hemphill made starts in both games, playing all 90 minutes against Rhodes and 54 minutes against Millsaps.

MM• Patrick Carver (Emory): The junior scored three goals in two games last week, leading the Eagles to the championship of their own Emory University Invitational. Carver scored the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Mississippi College and followed with a two-goal performance in a 4-0 triumph over Husson College.
MM• J.J. Dennstedt (Rochester): The sophomore was named the tournament's Best Offensive Player in helping the Yellowjackets to a runner-up finish in their own season-opening Flower City Classic. After dropping a 1-0 decision to the State University of New York at Cortland, Rochester posted a 5-1 triumph over SUNY Oswego, with Dennstedt setting up two goals and adding a goal in a 14-minute span. The victory was Rochester’s 500th all-time win in men’s soccer.
MM• Eric Floyd (Chicago): The junior forward scored 50 seconds into the contest as the Maroons won their first game of the season, defeating Webster University, 3-0, at the Wheaton (IL) College/Bob Baptista Invitational.
MM• RJ French (Case): The junior forward scored two goals for the Spartans during their season-opening Case Invitational. French tallied the opening goal in a 2-0 overtime victory over Lawrence University, before nailing the game-winner the following day in a 1-0 triumph over Allegheny College.
MM• John Hengel (Washington): The sophomore forward scored two goals in the Bears’ two wins at the Rhodes College Classic in Memphis, TN. Hengel scored the game-winner in a 3-0 win over host Rhodes College and added his second goal of the week in a 3-0 win against Millsaps College.
MM• Ben Premo (Brandeis): The junior forward tallied the lone goal for the Judges in a 1-1 overtime tie with Endicott College to open the 2007 season, moving into the top 10 on Brandeis' career goal-scoring list with 27 and 12th with 68 career points.

MM• Andre Jakubowski (Emory): The junior defender helped the Eagles to two shutout victories while tallying a goal in leading the team to the championship of its own season-opening Invitational. The Eagles defense held Mississippi College to eight shots (six on goal) and Husson College to four shots (one on goal) en route to a 2-0 record in tournament play. Jakubowski headed a corner kick into the goal during the eighth minute of a 4-0 triumph over Husson College.
MM• Chad Skidmore (Case): The senior goalkeeper gave up only one goal in two games as the Spartans kicked off the season with two straight victories in their season-opening Case Invitational. Skidmore stopped two shots in a 2-1 overtime win over Lawrence University, then held Allegheny College scoreless in a 1-0 win.

WASHINGTON EARNS PRESEASON NOD TO CAPTURE UAA MEN'S SOCCER TITLE
Bears In Search of Seventh Association Crown and First Since 1999
MMWashington University, which returns all 11 starters among its 23 letterwinners, will enter the new season as the favorite to capture the 2007 soccer championship in preseason polling of the Association coaches. The Bears, who won their final three games to come within a game of claiming the UAA title last fall, earned four first-place votes in earning top honors with 43 points.
MMSeven points separated the top four teams in this year’s poll, with each earning at least one first-place vote. New York University, which advanced to their first NCAA Division III final four in 2006, is the coaches’ choice to finish second in the standings, earning a pair of first-place votes in tallying 40 points. Case Western Reserve University, which won its last four UAA contest en route to claiming its first Association championship, garnered a first-place vote in being picked to finish third with 38 points.
MMThe University of Rochester is predicted to finish fourth in the standings, picking up the remaining first-place vote in totaling 36 points. Rounding out the remaining teams in the poll, in order, are the University of Chicago (27 points), Carnegie Mellon University (20), Emory University (12), and Brandeis University (9).
MMLast year, a record five Association teams — Case, Chicago, NYU, Rochester, and Washington — earned berths into the NCAA Division III Championship field, with NYU becoming only the third UAA team to reach the championship round. The Violets dropped a 3-0 decision to eventual national champion Messiah College in the semifinals.
