Eight UAA Players Receive AVCA All-America Honors

Lexington, KY – November 24, 2009 – Eight individuals from UAA volleyball teams have received AVCA All-America honors. Three were selected to the AVCA Division III First Team and three were selected to the AVCA Second Team. Two players received Honorable Mention recognition.

Leading the UAA contingent and selected as 2009 First-Team All-Americans were Emory University sophomore and UAA Player of the Year Natalie Schonefeld, teammate Jessica McAlvany, also a sophomore, and Kelly Pang, a freshman from national champion Washington University in St. Louis. Schonfield was a second-team selection in 2008.

Three individuals received second-team honors. They were Washington U. junior Erin Albers, freshman teammate Marilee Fisher, and UAA Rookie of the Year Kendyl Dunn from New York University. Albers was a third-team selection in 2008.

Receiving Honorable Mention were Aislinn McCloskey, a junior from Carnegie Mellon University, and Mina Baban, a sophomore from NYU.

Dunn and Pang had previously been named AVCA Region Freshman of the Year in their respective AVCA regions.
