Eight UAA Runners Earn Cross Country All-America

Highland Hills, OH – November 21, 2009 – Eight UAA Cross Country runners earned All-America honors at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships held at the Highland Hills Golf Course in Highland Hills, Ohio.

Leading the UAA men's contingent was Paul Norton, a junior from Brandeis University. He covered the 8K course in a time of 25:37.8 to finish 7th overall. He was followed by Emory senior Charlie Meade (12th), New York University senior Zach Maher (15th), Washington University sophomore Michael Burnstein (20th), and NYU junior Sebastian Schwelm.

NYU led the UAA men's teams with a fourth-place team finish.

Three UAA women's runners finished in the top 35 to earn All-American honors. They were led by Case Western Reserve University senior Elaine Simpson who finished in 14th place. Simpson was followed by Washington junior Taryn Surtees (20th), and Case teammate Justine Jeroski (30th), a junior.

The UAA women's teams were led by Washington U. The Bears finished 10th in the team scoring.
