Washington University Moves to First
After Second Set of Division III U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup Standings

Cleveland, Ohio – Following the completion of six NCAA championships, Washington (Mo.) jumps to first place in the second U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup fall standings. The Bears, who were fourth in the first standings,
now lead all institutions with 322 points.

In the most recent championships, Washington placed fifth in men’s soccer and ninth in women’s soccer to move ahead in the standings. Amherst (Mass.), who led after the first Directors’ Cup standings, placed ninth in men’s soccer and trails the Bears by 31 points, with 291 total points.

One point currently separates third and fourth place, as Williams (Mass) edges Calvin (Mich.), with 286 total points. The Ephs moved into the top-five after ninth place finishes in both men’s and women’s soccer. The Knights of Calvin fell from second to fourth despite finishing 17th in women’s soccer and a 33rd in men’s soccer.

Rounding out the top-five is Emory (Ga.), who was previously in 13th place. The Eagles surged into fifth after placing ninth in women’s soccer and 17th in men’s soccer.

The Sports Academy Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The United States Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Alabama, is the program sponsor.

The final Division III standings will be released Thursday, December 20. Please note, standings published midseason are unofficial.
