Lynn Imergoot Passes Away at Age 60 in New York - St. Louis, MO – July 26, 2009 – Washington University in St. Louis associate director of intramurals and club sports and former women’s tennis coach Lynn Imergoot passed away on Friday, July 24, from injuries sustained in a car accident in New York. Imergoot, 60, retired from coaching in 2005 and spent a total of 37 years on the Danforth Campus.

Inaugural UAA Presidents Scholar-Athlete Team Announced - Rochester, NY - June 15, 2009 – The University Athletic Association announces the members of the first annual UAA Presidents Scholar-Athlete Team. The team comprises 88 student-athletes representing all eight UAA member institutions across 11 men’s sports and nine women’s sports. To achieve this recognition, a student-athlete must earn first-team All-UAA honors and must carry a 3.50 or greater cumulative grade point average during that playing season.
Of the 88 honorees in the inaugural group, six earned All-Association first-team honors in more than one sport, and nine were named the most outstanding performer or most valuable player in their sport by the respective UAA coaches’ group.

Washington University Men's Basketball Team Repeats as National Champions — Women's Team Finishes as Runner Up - St. Louis, MO - March 23, 2009 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team repeated as NCAA Division III Men's Champions with a 61-52 victory over No. 6 Richard Stockton College on March 21 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. Washington University is the fourth NCAA Division III team to repeat as National Champions.

All 16 UAA Cross Country Teams Receive USTFCCA Scholar-Athlete Team Recognition - New Orleans, LA - March 3, 2009 – All 16 of the men's and women's cross country teams of the University Athletic Association received 2008 All-Academic Team Awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The UAA is the only conference in which all of its men's teams or all of its women's teams received USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition. The academic performances of the UAA student-athletes mirrored their peformances at the NCAA Division III National Championships. Five men's teams and three women's teams from UAA institutions finishes in the top 30 of their respective fields.
No. 8 Tartans Win Inaugural Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championship - St. Peter, MN – March 1, 2009 – The No. 8 Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team defeated No. 5 Emory University 6-3 in the inaugural Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Division III Women's Team Indoor Championship, Sunday, March 1 on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The third and final win of the tournament was yet another upset as the Tartans knocked off No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 3 Denison to reach the title match. The win keeps Carnegie Mellon’s dual-match record perfect at 9-0 and gives the program its first ever win over the nationally recognized powerhouse of Emory University.

Emory Volleyball Team Captures National Championship with 3-1 Win over LaVerne - Bloomington, IL – November 22, 2008 – The Emory volleyball team capped off its storybook season Saturday evening with a 3-1 win over the University of La Verne in the title match of the NCAA Division III National championship. The Eagles closed out their year with a 35-6 record following the 16-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22 win over the No. 4-ranked Leopards who finished out the campaign with a 27-3 won-lost ledger. The match was held at the Shirk Center on the Illinois Wesleyan campus in Bloomington, Illinois.
