Varney becomes the 28th Division III coach to reach 600 career wins and 15th active coach to achieve the milestone. Chicago-Waseda Baseball Renewal Set - NCAA News - February 27, 2008 — Back when Chicago was a member of the Big Ten Conference, its baseball team regularly played Waseda University of Japan over a 26-year period ending in 1936. Rich Luenemann Named 2007 AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year - St. Louis, Mo., November 26, 2007 Washington University volleyball head coach Rich Luenemann was named the 2007 Division III American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Coach of the Year, as announced by the organization on Monday. Luenemann led the 2007 Washington U. volleyball team to the NCAA Division III National Championship, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 3-2, in the title match. The national title is the second of Luenemann’s career, he won his first championship in 2003.

Washington University Wins NCAA Volleyball Championship - November 17, 2007, Bloomington, Ill., November 17, 2007 The Washington University volleyball team won the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship with a 3-2 (30-25, 23-20, 30-22, 28-30, 15-13) win over the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in Bloomington, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 17. The title is the WU volleyball team’s Division III leading ninth in school history, and the first since the 2003 season. Saturday’s title match was WU’s third since winning it all in 2003, but the first time in four years the Bears were able to reach the pinnacle of Division III volleyball. Head coach Rich Luenemann, who won his 900th match as a collegiate head coach earlier in the NCAA Tournament, wins the second NCAA title of his career.
